The legend of the Wierzynek restaurant dates back to 1364, when, at the request of King Casimir the Great, Mikołaj Wierzynek, a Kraków merchant, hosted the most famous feast in the history of Poland, organized on the occasion of the wedding of the king's granddaughter with Emperor Charles IV of Luxembourg. This wonderful celebration was attended by rulers and mighty from all over Europe, including the King of Hungary, Louis, King of Denmark, Waldemar IV, and the King of Cyprus, Peter. According to the legend, the tables were loaded with food and drinks, and each guest was presented with gold and silver tableware. The most eminent chroniclers of the epoch admitted that the artistry and abundance of food, the hospitality and generosity of the host, and the joy of the feasters had no moderation. We cultivate this tradition of celebrating food and royal service to this day, inviting guests to the magical thresholds of the Wierzynek Restaurant.
